High-capacity Deepstyle guttering system. This 68mm downpipe is designed to be fitted alongside 115mm Deepstyle gutter to form a high-capacity domestic rainwater management system capable of dealing with high volumes of water run-off.

Which type of pipe do I need? Socket-ended or plain-ended?

You should keep in mind that plain-ended pipe must be inserted into a socket-ended component. It is not possible to connect two plain ends together without any other component – you would need a connector or alternatively a socketed component to do so.
